Volunteer at FAFSA Fest

Our greatest demand for volunteers is during RCAN's FAFSA Fest! These are events at which we help students and families fill out and submit federal  financial aid forms for college. We need FAFSA Completion Volunteers and General Volunteers to staff each of our FAFSA Fest events. You can make a big difference in the lives of young people by helping at these events.

FAFSA Completion Volunteers: FAFSA Completion Volunteers work one-on-one with students and their families to fill out and submit the FAFSA and TAP forms. FAFSA Completion Volunteers must have extensive experience with the FAFSA or must attend one of our free training workshops offered annually.

General Volunteers: General Volunteers are needed for student registration, hospitality, and other tasks.

volunteer at the Jazz Festival

REF has been collecting instrument donations for our Spring for Music Opportunities program at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival since 2008, thanks to the generosity of M&T Bank.

Each year we need volunteers to help us staff the booth, collect instruments, talk about what we do at REF, and have a great time!

*We are no longer recruiting volunteers for Jazz Fest 2018, but thank you so much for your interest!*

Become a College Connect Panelist

Are you a current or recently graduated college student? Did you attend the Rochester City School District or a similar district? Are you a first-generation college student? We'd love for you to share your experiences and perspective with high school students as an RCAN College Connect panelist. (Pssst... it'll look great on your resume, too).

Interested? Contact us!

Become a Teachers' choice panelist

Are you passionate about student literacy? Are you a current or former teacher/school administrator? You'd make a great addition to our Teachers' Choice panel!

In 2017, we received over 100 applications for our Teachers' Choice program. We need your help reading through them and determining which projects should be funded through our program.

REF has given over 42,000 new books to Rochester students since the start of Give Back, Give Books in 2005. Let's make that number even bigger! Organizing a book drive within your office or organization, club, sorority or fraternity, church group, or sports team is a fun, easy way to support Rochester students. You can also make a book drive part of your next birthday party or event!
